We probably no longer know each other

I just realized this recently: I think i’ll have a hard time recognizing who I was 5 years ago. Me 10 years ago is even more unrecognisable from the current me.

In a nutshell, people change. World view, body shape, experience, confidence, etc.

Then it hits me: If I can’t even recognize myself from years ago, it’d be even more hard for someone else wouldn’t it? If the person who’s in this body 24/7 can’t even recognize itself, another person who only interacts with this body 100 minutes or 10 minutes per week will have even lower chance to know the said person?

It’s like seeing a 10 light years away star; what you see isn’t the current state of the star; what you see is the state of the star 10 years ago.

Or maybe if you visited a country 15 years ago and that’s how you think and remember that country. Meanwhile, the country had changed so much in 15 years (could be better / worse, who know).

This got me wonder about person that I haven’t seen in the while. People in high school, uni, past jobs… do we still know each other? Technically they know a slice of me at certain year and I just know some slices of them at certain year. What happened afterward, who knows how differ they current self from a version that I interacted with years ago.
