Immortality is probably a bad idea

Funny thing happens as you grow older beyond 30+ years old: new trend is happening, the kids are adopting it, and we the 30-something dinosaur couldn’t understand why the heck this becomes a thing and trendy. It is a continues loop of whats and whys: sometimes it’s the newest slang, sometimes it’s fashion, sometimes it is a new piece of technology. We just couldn’t wrap our heads around it.

It reminds me of the time my parents and elders struggled to use computer and its UI. It is so obvious to us, yet this fully grown and responsible adult struggle with it.

In the blink of an eye, my age group is that adult now: Struggle to wrap our heads around new ideas.

It is obvious that the physical body stops developing after certain age. Even worse: it deteriorates. It seems like our mind also goes through a process (maybe at different phase tho): at certain point learning something new could be so much harder than before. If it only took 30+ years until a person struggle to learn, absorb, and live with new ideas, imagine what will happen if you live an immortal life 150, 250, or 350 years from now. A leftover of the past era struggle to understand what’s happening around them.

The idea of immortality always bothers me. Now I probably have one answer why it does: living in a world that keeps on changing without capability to adapt to that change sounds horrible.
